Progress Pushes Forward At Education City Golf Club As First Green Is Planted By Major Champion And Golf Course Designer, José María Olazábal


Education City Golf Club has reached a new milestone in its development as the first green was grassed today, signifying the project’s first complete hole of the 18-hole championship course.

To mark the occasion, two-time US Masters champion and the golf course’s designer, José María Olazábal, was on-site to plant the first green. Mr Olazábal was joined by the golf course project team as well as students and teachers from schools that are taking part in the golf club’s Pearl Coaching Programme. Launched in 2015, the Pearl Coaching Programme aims to make golf more accessible to young people.

Arab Conference on the Role of the Civil Society in the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030


The Qatar Foundation for Social Action will organize in Doha on 20-21 April the First Arab Regional Conference on “The Role of Civil Society in the Arab Region in Implementing 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

The conference will be held in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Conference will be an opportunity to highlight the State of Qatar’s pivotal role in supporting sustainable development in the Arab region and the world, showcasing the Qatari experience in the field of social work and the role of the private sector in supporting social development and allowing civil society organizations in Qatar to interact with their counterparts in the Arab region and exchange experiences and expertise with them.

The Conference is expected to attract more than 200 participants, representing civil society organizations at the national level, the most important networks and civil society organizations in the Arab countries, United Nations organizations and government agencies as well as representatives and experts of the private sector concerned with the affairs of sustainable development at the Arab and international level along with GCC representatives and a number of dignitaries. Doha, Qatar, 03 Jun 2015: Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), operated by AMLAK Holding, recently won three prestigious awards from three separate awards associations for its excellence as one of the leading convention and exhibition centres globally as well as its commitment to sustainability.

QNCC was awarded by Tarsheed, the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, which was initiated in 2012 by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency department of KAHRAMAA under the patronage of the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to help achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. The significant achievements of the ongoing programme have added values to the efforts of all Tarsheed’s partners who are contributing in achieving the set out targets of reducing Electricity and Water consumptions by 20% and 35%, respectively until 2017. Tarsheed awarded QNCC the Best Conserving Building Award, for its sustainability efforts; AMLAK received this prestigious award at the awards ceremony.

Additionally, this year QNCC was awarded The Best Conference and Convention Centre at the World Tourism Forum’s ‘Oscars of Tourism’ Awards, a platform that brings the attendees and the leaders of world tourism together. QNCC also won the title of The Middle East’s Leading Exhibition and Convention Centre for the third year in a row by the World Travel Awards, voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide.

Doha, Qatar, 11 Aug 2015: Qatar National Convention Centre, the Middle East’s leading exhibition and convention centre, recently conducted a survey amongst its international and regional clients garnering feedback on its event management for the first half of 2015. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 87 percent of the customer satisfaction rating being outstanding, excellent and very good. Moreover, the QNCC team has received client appreciation letters from  the majority of clients they served between January and June highlighting specific areas of excellence and appreciation.

Customer appreciation letters are valued by QNCC’s dedicated team, as they inspire great work ethic and commitment to all projects, regardless of their size. QNCC recently received such a letter from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) regarding the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. In the letter UNODC lauded the venue staff for performing their duties in a committed and responsible manner, personally enhancing the successful servicing of the conference. In addition, UNODC recognized that the hard work of QNCC staff supported high-level delegates, including Heads of State and Government, as well as other participants and United Nations staff, in the effective exercise of their functions.

QNCC managed 179 events between January and June 2015, for global, regional and internal clients. The survey indicated that customers rated QNCC as either outstanding or excellent in terms of hospitality, cleanliness, customer service, and the overall experience. When compared with similar venues, QNCC was rated excellent, and the overall evaluation for its capabilities in terms IT facilities and the response to IT requirements was also excellent. In addition, the venue was excellent and outstanding in terms of its capabilities for meeting client expectations by survey respondents.

Doha, Qatar, 30 September 2015: Get ready for a show stopping extravaganza as JM Barrie’s Peter Pan promises to delight families at the Qatar National Convention Centre today. Performed on the custom built stage in QNCC’s spacious Exhibition Hall, the performance will excite audiences, both young and old, with an enchanting story of the boy who refused to grow up.

This international musical production of JM Barrie’s Peter Pan will be brought to life with actors performing dazzling flying sequences utilizing state-of-the-art suspension equipment. The Convention Centre will provide its expert sound and lighting equipment, as well as its projection system that will elevate the show with surround CGI projections, which will provide audiences with a one of a kind experience.
